GREAT TURNOUT for our Annual Special Olympics Banquet held at the Hurst Brookwood Center on June 20th!
The Olympians feasted on Pizza and Hamburgers and all received special medallions for their sports activities. 
 
At the Annual District 5790 Conference Gala on May 13, 2017, The Governor's Cup was presented to HEB Rotary Club President Clay Caruthers by District Governor Mary Ann McDuff.  This honor is for the #1 club (there are 70 clubs in our North Texas district).  Pictured from left to right: Bill Anthony, Jim Dunning, Bob Sarpalius, DG Mary Ann McDuff, President Clay Caruthers, Billie Lynn, Allan Weegar, Becky Eden, Gary Short, Rita Frick, and PDG Paul Lucas   
Our BHS Interact Club held a very successful fundraising event at Walgreens (Central Dr. in Bedford) on February 11th!
12 Interactors met at six the night before in the Yantsous' Kitchen and dipped and decorated strawberries until midnight in preparation for selling Valentine treats for 8 hours the next day. CONGRATULATIONS on funding five new Wheelchairs for the next delivery to those in need!  
HEB Rotary celebrated November 1, with 3 New Members.
 
 
 
 
  HEB Rotary celebrated the ROTARY FOUNDATION FOUNDATION CENTENNIAL as a Centennial Sponsor at the Annual Gala on November 12, 2016 held at the beautiful Omni Hotel in Fort Worth. Our club received special recognition for our contributions to Ending Polio and an EREY Banner continuing our long tradition of qualifying with our 100% participation and per capita attainment.     
 
 
 
The 2016 HEB Rotary Golf Tournament which funds local charities and community programs sponsored by HEB Rotary Club was held at Texas Star Golf Course on September 7th.  Our tournament honoree this year was Dr. Faye Beaulieu, regional director for United Way of Tarrant County. The tournament director was Rita Frick.  Congratulations to Dr Beaulieu, Rita, sponsors, volunteers and approximately 150 players for raising over $30,000 for scholarships, humanitarians projects in our community, and initiatives which benefit mankind like the eradication of Polio.    
State Senator Konni Burton, District 10 provided a legislative update on October 11, 2016 to the Rotary Club of Hurst-Euless-Bedford. She also encouraged everyone not to wait for the legislative session to start, but to be sure to get their legislative request in well in advance of the new session. 
HEB Rotary Celebrated World Polio Day with a special cake and Rotary Foundation Centennial Contribution.

The INTERACT CLUB OF LD BELL HS celebrated their charter today with several members of their sponsor, the Rotary Club of Hurst-Euless-Bedford.
HEB Rotary President Clay Caruthers presented INTERACT Club President Taylor Franklin with the official Charter Certificate, Club Banner, Bell, and 4-Way Test Banner.
 
HEB Rotary was represented by over 12 members and guests at the Annual Foundation and Membership Seminar 27 August 2016 in Weatherford.  It was a great opportunity to enhance techniques and strategies for effectiveness and achieving goals. HEB was recognized for leadership in contributions to Ending Polio.  Also Brenda Jackson accepted a District Grant awarded to the "I can Still Shine" organization for Play ground equipment and for a freezer in their food pantry.  
 
 
President Clay and Assistant Governor Walter present the 2016-17 ROTARY BUILDER award to Rita Frick.  The original announcement was was made earlier during the visit to our club by District Governor Mary Ann McDuff. Rita's serves in many ways including chair responsibility for our major fund raiser the Annual Charity Golf Tournament.  She is a great selection as our "Rotary Builder".    
Vocational Chair Georgia Kidwell presented the 2016 TCC "Van Parker" Scholarship to Cindy Valdez at our club meeting on July 6, 2016.
With satisfactory completion of the first year of study, TCC will match the scholarship for the second year!

HebRotary President Tony expresses appreciation for an outstanding program on June 14th which included humanitarian reports on the Akola project in Uganda by Lauren Baldwin and on the Community Enrichment Center in HEB by Randy Clinton.
Georgia Kidwell introduces our HEB Rotary Scholarship 2016 winners. They  were guests, along with their parents, at the June 7 Rotary meeting. Danyal Ali from Trinity HS, Carrie Jones, Bell HS, Dominique Hussain, Trinity HS, Tsheden Tshokey, Trinity HS and Stephen Stark, Trinity HS. 
HEB Rotary Received 1st Place District 5790 Award Honors for The International Avenue of Service (Large Club Category) at the recent Annual District Conference in Arlington. HEB President Tony Rader made the announcement at club meeting this week and presented the plaque to our International Chair Jim Dunning.

The Annual Joint MCP/HEB Four Way Test Speech Contest was held February 24th in the council chambers at Hurst City Hall.
18 students represented Speech teams from Bell, Birdville and Trinity High Schools.

  The Rotary club of Hurst-Euless-Bedford  was presented with a 100% Paul Harris Fellow banner from Rotary International VP Anne Matthews at the Rotary Foundation Gala at the Hurst Conference Center on October 9, 2014.     This is a rare one time award held by only nine clubs in our district. Many thanks to our members for “doing good in the world” with their support of Rotary Foundation projects which benefit our local community and our Rotarian partnerships overseas where we are making a measureable difference in disease prevention,  improvements in education and literacy, maternal and child health, clean water and sanitation, and economic development.      

    Forty six representative of HEB Rotary provided great support as the Host Club for this major districtwide annual Rotary Foundation Gala.     Image

Our HEB Rotary candidate was recently selected to represent District 5790 as a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholar this year. Yeani Choi from Bedford and a recent graduate from Baylor and will begin her studies in March at the Seoul National University in Korea.  Her studies will lead to a Masters Degree in Medical Humanities.

The tournament honored retired Texas State Representative Todd Smith for his many years of service with a full field of 144 players and many great sponsors.  The event netted over $28,000 for dozens of humanitarian and educational projects in our community and the worldImage

HEB ROTARY WAS CHARTERED MARCH 19, 1962

OUR MEETING ON MARCH 20, 2012 Marked 50 Years of HEB ROTARY SERVICE TO OUR COMMUNITY.

In this picture 16 of the past 50 club presidents gathered around our first HEB Club President Dr Ardis Bell. 
Most of the 70 members of our club were on hand to mark this special ocassion.  


The Rotary Clubs of HEB and MCP Sponsor a 4-Way Test Speech Contest for 18 contestants from Trinity HS, Bell HS, and Birdville HS on February 29th.

ImageThe HEB Rotary Club was able to donate a dictionary to every 3rd grader in the HEBISD.  This could have not been possible without the help of Jim Dunning and many other Rotarians.  A hugh thank you goes out to all for their help!

On August 2nd Ambassadorial Scholar Vanessa Bilanceri visited the Rotary Club of HEB and provided a very interesting recap of her year in Mexico City. See some of her amazing pictures at http://texmexvanessa.blogspot.com/
2010-11 Ambassadorial Scholar Vanessa Bilanceri, nominated by our club, was recently in Argentina, where she exchanged club flags with the Haedo Rotary Club in the province of Buenos Aires.
A wide range of current activities were discussed at the 7am HEB Rotary Board Meeting on 4-21-10.
Georgia Kidwell and Sneed Kaker enjoy visiting with GSE Team Member Santhanam Janaki Kala who just arrived from Rotary District 3000 in India.
The Jan. 12th HEB Club meeting boasted a packed house with a special visit from District Governor John Miller and Ambassadorial Scholar Vanessa Bilanceri. John was present to award our club with a banner marking 100% participation in the "Every Rotarian, Every Year" pledge to donate $100 per Rotarian to the Foundation.

Well I graduated at a reputable brazilian medical school named UFMG last year.
Rotarians Ward and Jackie Budweg from Decorah, Iowa have been bicycling the world are spending a few days here in the home of HEB Rotarian Paul and Monica Lucas in Bedford. Having riden across the US and also 5 times in an annual ride across Iowa, Paul has enjoyed spending time with his kindred spirits and doing some riding with them to Rotary meetings while they are in our area.
